London Stock Exchange Group buys Refinitiv for 27 billion US dollars
Acquisition boosts business prospects for Munich-based data analysts Prisma Analytics
Munich, Feb. 19, 2021, London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) acquired international analytics firm Refinitiv (former subsidiary of Thomson Reuters) for 27 billion US dollars on Jan. 29, 2021 – to create the world’s largest information provider for the financial industry. This mega-transaction will also benefit AI data analyst Prisma Analytics.
Refinitiv’s Eikon platform previously offered Prisma Analytics’ flagship application, “Decision Point.” With the acquisition, LSEG is now Prisma Analytics’ new partner.
Commenting on the positive effects of the transaction, Sebastian Pötzsch, CEO of Prisma Analytics, says: “The purchase of Refintiv by LSEG consolidates our position in the global financial information market. We are currently still in the process of negotiating the scope of our partnership with the London Stock Exchange Group, but both already know that we are keen to cooperate with each other.”
The additional business potential for Prisma Analytics is also tremendous. For example, LSEG plans to invest 200 million US dollars in alternative data sources this year alone. In addition, LSEG wants to incorporate our data feeds for sentiment analysis – which it sees as revolutionary – into its data workflows. And our Decision Point app is generating equal interest.”
Dr. Heiner Pollert, founder and senior advisor of Prisma Analytics, represents the company’s main investor, the Patentpool Group: “The cards on the market of professional financial information are being reshuffled – driven not least by the daily growing demand for Big Data analyses. Smart information forms the basis for the financial market. With our highly specialized expertise in the analysis and preparation of complex data, we can further maintain and expand our global rank.”
Launched in 2019, the Decision Point (DP) app is Prisma Analytics’ flagship application: a research tool that has replaced laborious and formerly costly analysis processes of big and unstructured data with automation. Prisma Analytics generates data-based knowledge from large previously unstructured data sets. “Decision Point” thus supports analysts and decision-makers from the financial sector with precise analyses and fact-based evaluations – the basis for making critical business decisions.
